The Great Mosque (Sousse)

Description

Built in the 9th century (851 AD) under the Aghlabid dynasty, the mosque looks more like a military fortress than a typical house of worship. It does not have the traditional minaret, instead this northeast corner tower featuring a domed kiosk was used by the muezzin to proclaim the call to prayer.
