The Village Street (Santillana del Mar)

The village of Santillana del Mar is famously known as the "town of the three lies" because, according to local humor, it is neither holy (santi), nor flat (llana), nor does it have the sea (mar). In the morning haze in the background, you see the Colegiata de Santa Juliana, a 12th-century Romanesque masterpiece, originally built to house the relics of the martyred Saint Juliana.
